The adventure was created with all ages in mind from young children to adults but ideally we think they are most suited for ages 5-12. They are wonderful bed time stories for little ones who are not yet reading on their own.

Whilst the story is fiction, it is loosely based on our family's life in Thailand and Costa Rica. The two main characters are Bear, a young boy, and his cat Otorongo (Otto) who takes him on a series of adventures to discover the many gifts our planet (Pachamama) has to offer. Otto introduces Bear to the language of the Earth and they travel to many mystic and magical places along the way. Bear learns to meditate, connect with animals, nature and the stars, finding the essence of who he is along the way. The story also weaves the ancestral teachings and traditions of the Andean cosmovision in a way that is fun and easy for children (and adults!) to ignite their imagination and love of our planet.
Otto and Bear's Letters was created to inspire young and old readers alike to find their own unique connection to nature, to the planet and themselves and to bring joy and wonder to its readers.
The Andean cosmovision is a way of living that is viewed through a completely different lens than that of western culture. To truly understand and embody this way of life, one must let go of the belief systems we have been taught about our reality and open our hearts to viewing life, and reality though our relationship to nature and the cosmos. To walk this path is to discover profound aspects of our true essence; to remember who we really are. The Andean cosmovision is rooted in the interconnection of all things and living in harmony with nature, our own environment and the cosmos. It is to live in the frequency of love, to be in absolute service to ourselves, to others and to our beloved Pachamama.
The gift of the Andes brings to humanity is that the world is full of Spirit. It is our ability to fuse our essence with nature, to remember we are one consciousness and to see that our greatest teacher and allies are the oceans, rivers, mountains, earth, flora and fauna. The Andes invites us to live from the heart and not the mind.
Otto and Bear are characters based on my son, Bear, and his extremely large cat Otorongo who adopted us while we were living in the northern mountains of Thailand.
